Let's not call it panicking

..... let's call it more burying my head in the sand basket of monkee botty's.

Wow, this last week has gone massively quickly and tomorrow is the witching hour, in more ways than one. And hey! Didn't I do well on the whole staying-away-from-my-blog front?? ..... don't answer that.

So yes. Tomorrow is theoretically the grand opening of my little monkee shop and let's just say that I was hoping to achieve more this last week. Like, for instance, knitting more stock, getting Paypal sorted, and just generally sussing out how the whole thing will work.

But I'm sure it'll be fine. I hope. I thought I'd just mention a few things about my imminent shop, interspersed with pictures of knitted monkees to relieve the boredom :-

A FEW THINGS ABOUT MY SHOP :-
  • The first person to comment on each item will have the option to buy it, depending on how much postage will cost them. If they decide not to the item will go back on the virtual shelf

  • The whole "No-reply" issue with Blogger comments worries me (and I must confess that I actually once did try to reply ..... thinking that the address was "Nore-ply". I'm bright like that) so if you want to buy something and can leave your email address when commenting, please do, in order that I may contact you

  • Wednesdays and Fridays will be my days for outings to the Post Office, so please bear with me if you buy anything ..... it may take a few days

  • I'm not currently planning on having an advance email list as I really don't think there will be the demand for my ironically sewn monkees ..... plus, any knittists can make their own monkey using the link to the patterns on my blog

  • After this initial opening, I'll be stocking my shop on a drip-feed basis, after introducing any new monkees on my blog
Thanks to everyone who has commented or left a suggestion, and please remember to come back tomorrow to check if you've won a monkee related product. There's still today if you haven't yet entered my giveaway, just leave a comment on this post.

Until tomorrow .....
ps. I may be later posting tomorrow .... depending on how organised I am tonight. ...... ok .... I WILL be later posting tomorrow ......

Can't wait. I think you'll be pleasantly (or not) surprised how many people want a monkeeeeeeeeeee!

I think the demand for monkees will be high. Do you have a wheelbarrow to get you to the postoffice?

's true, us knittists are able to knit our own monkeYs. But monkeEs? Naaah!
Sorry for the imminent silence on my side of blogland BTW, I'm currently working like a madwoman so as to make up for my two days out of the office (Thurs/Fri) as my "temp" can't be bothered to stand in for me and already asked if she had to come in at all as I had "all of three days after all" to do what normally takes five working days. Yup, excellent worker she is.

Frantically preparing for London as well..flight leaves at *gasp* 7 am on Thursday. GAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

I cant knit so cant make my own monkee. Cant I just leave a comment now for one and be, in a non typical british manner, a queue jumper? Ha, see, I even got a knitting reference in there, surely thats worth something?

Monkee shananigans in my space last night, will report later just for you :o)

PS is it just coincidence that the word verfication to leave a comment today was 'nomonkeeforyoumrs'?

Just snorted reading your post and snorted again reading the comments -especially Suzyb's word verification! Good luck with the monkee merchandising - hope those bare botties have bodies attached! Lucy x

Monkees are very popular. I predict that the monkee shelves will be swept clear very quickly.

And gosh - it does seem like there's a lot to think about. But don't panic! You sound most organised to me (if a litle muffled - but that's what you get when you bury your head in a basket of monkee botties.)

Here's to impending shopkeeperliness!

virtual bunch of congratulations balloons for you MM. Although you may have to remove your head from the basket of squooshy monkey bots to see it. Or not.

Tomorrow will be fabulous.

*Pegs tent outside the monkee store and lines up behind SuzyB* (not gonna mess with HER lol - am joking, Suzy!! You are really nice... aren't you??? Lol).

Yeah, we can knit our own monkees... but I for one struggle with the pattern conversion to knit HPs... am thick when it comes to numbers (which is quite scary cos I used to be an accountant... ooops). Plus I LOVE shopping!! So there... :D

I've brought some snacks and beverages along... feel free to drop by while we all wait... patiently?? :D

YOu've only got to look at the number of posts to see how popular your monkees are. I have so far managed to knit 2 body parts and 2 feet and have just started the arm, but I sooo wanna buy mine instead, it'd save a lot of swearing!!

yay for you monkee lady
the shop will open and the stock of monkees will be grabbed by frantic women all wanting a monkee of their own
i will be in the queue - but at the back - looking anxious
i hate a bun fight
maybe i will wait for my monkee once the fight has died down.
yep
that's what i'll do
because my own monkee project does not seem to be making much progress - i think i need one of yours to hold my hand whilst i curse and swear over the pattern.
sleep well maker of many monkees
and clear a HUGE space on a table for all the money that will be rolling in!

So, er, will shop opening time to salubrious to folks on the this side of the pond, too, or will I need to set my alarm? I'll be there!

oooooh! this reminds me of high school when kids would "sleep out" in the line/queue for concert tickets which went on sale the next morning! for very, VERY popular acts i believe one actually had to show up the day BEFORE and wait in a separate, preliminary line to obtain a number that would afford one a place in which to wait in the proper (overnight) line.

yours, dearest darling MM, may well be the led zeppelin of knitted monkeeshops!

(sorry...does that make the panic thingie better or worse...? can i get you a bigger basket, with softer & more comforting monkeebums??!)

ps: my word verification is "ddujbx" which i assume is code for "i'm saving you a monkee, who looks a bit like daniel craig..." ...no...??!

Good luck with the shop! I should never have had the weekend off as we've now lost our broadband connection at home and I'm so addicted I'm sitting in the local library while Sausage chooses 12 million books!!!!

I hope I can get there on time - there is one lil' fella I have my eye on and wish I could lay claim to him now. What if someone else gets to him first? Hope there are no virtual fistfights...

I'll likely be visiting a lot the next 24 hours or so! My word verification is luhkct (which could spell the word luck! Now I'm getting my hopes up...)

The ol' blog has been neglected at my end - it was a bad idea to start one with an impending move to a new house! :P

we are NOT panicking.......

instead of a shop, maybe you should have just made an adoption list

MUCH more dignified than a shop queue

...although, us monkee groupees are a dignified lot.....

an my poor knitted simian is JUST a back and front body.....I ran out of yarn :>(

There's something you don't see everyday - a basket of Monkee Booty.

Gotta love it!

Munkeh said...

WOW, it won't be long now! Have you enlisted help from the "elves" to get your shelves stocked with a plethora of Monkee stock? I can see the Monkees flying off the shelves tomorrow! Best wishes on the opening!! Please have a look at my Munkeh. What the heck did I do wrong. I followed the pattern exactly! Thanks

I'm so excited for you! I think you're underestimating the demand for monkees in this world though! Heehee.

there is actually a commenting service called Haloscan. I use it on my blogger blog and I can reply to those who comment.

THe only bad thing is that when you install it into your template, you lose all your old comments. I have been going back and adding my comments in from the past.

Looking forward to the monkee shop - those monkee bums are just too tantalizing!

Don't post too early, will you? Some monkee lovers have to work to earn pennies to put towards adopting poor homeless monkees.
