Gladys, the winner of my 200th post competition (turns out Glays was a typo) requested a 007 wannabe. Is it just my imagination or was this monkee more Daffy Duck than 007 for a time?
But he turned out okay in the end ......
Well I think he's cute. I'm not sure that everyone feels the same though .....
I introduced him to some of the other monkees that were knocking around .....
Suddenly, 007 approached from the rear ......
...... and grappled HP29 to the ground (... ok, table) .......
The other monkees looked on agog as 007 grabbed some tissue paper ......
...... and forced the wannabe into it .....
Isn't it tricky though, wrapping a parcel with only two hands?
..... and HP27 duly
(please try not to notice the debris in our garden ..... it was a windy night and the recycling blew everywhere ..... it'll get picked up sometime this year soon ..... )
..... and hopped on board ......
And can you guess what happened next, children?
That's right ..... that pesky 007 only started wrapping them both up ......
(also, please try to refrain from noticing the reflection of me in my Mrs Blobby dressing gown in the window. Aah, the things I get up to before work!) (Notice instead, how one of the stunt monkee's is regaling the action to the eye-less ones .... bless) (phew! Think I got away with it there .....)
007 was non-repentant .....
007 was non-repentant .....
Please don't think that I ruined the surprise for Gladys with these pictures ..... HP29 was sent off on Friday afternoon and amazingly I had an email yesterday saying that he'd arrived safely. Isn't Royal Mail great?
Unfortunately that's not always the case, as one poor stunt monkee seems to have gone missing in action somewhere over the Atlantic, so currently I'm working on a replacement. Which is why my shop hasn't yet been restocked (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it). Soon though, hopefully.
Just where is the Bermuda triangle anyway? (Please don't say Bermuda .....)

You have reaffirmed my opinion that you're mad. Very, very funny. But mad.
how can one be "agog" when one hasn't eyes to see that which could make one "agog"?!!
OoooOOoo, did you say something about more monkee-ness for store shelves in the not toooo distant future??!! (waggling eyebrows)
please be sure to give the time your shop will open so we who live on the other side of the pond can figure out when the heck that might be. thanks
Now I know today is going to be a good one 'cos I've had a quality fix of monkee madness!! Thanks MM :)
Royal Mail have obviously recovered from Christmas and are no longer playing games of 'which house shall we deliver this one to?', as they did to us ad nauseum!!!
Lesley xx
P.S. Fab glamorous dressing gown ;)
Well either Royal Mail or Australia Post are crubbish as we are still waiting on a Christmas parcel posted back in August!
Glad your inland monkey got there a-ok and fingers crossed that the next one stays high above the reach of the Bermuda Triangle this time!
p.s. Would there be any bags loitering waiting to go into your next sore opening event? I'm just asking is all!
Haha, love the story MM you are brilliant. More monkeys hoorah!
Awww, hope HP29 has a lovely life with Gladys. I'm loving those flecked monkeys being made - you are so industrious! x
Has 007 not come around to the benefits of having HP27 stay, then? Every evil genius needs a trusty sidekick, after all :o)
And I'm sorry, but I just don't understand how you can produce monkees this fast on your own. Are you using your family as sweat-shop-style assistants? Hmmm? ;o)
VCxx
PS Mmmm, festive pie... sounds yummy! Surely must have helped make up for having to work on a Saturday (if only a little bit).
I'm so glad you're always on hand with the camera to catch all this for posterity. Although, what 007 gets up to while you're at work, who knows?
Love the dressing gown :)
007 has a wilful streak doesn't he? I'm glad that HP27 managed to escape though, although I'm sure Gladys would have been pleased at 2 monkees through her door!
If it makes you feel any better I didn't even notice the recycling or you + dressing gown until you pointed them out!!
Love the story! Are your monkees all male?
I LOVE your monkees and their exploits....and I know JUST what you mean about the mail....I sent something to Kerrie (hipknits) on 12th Dec '07, and she sent something to me about the same time and NEITHER has arrived! (and neither was a monkee either, to be anywhere creating mayhem!) and we only live about 35 miles apart! Fran (not really anon, but have no blog, so not allowed named status!!!
lmao at the grappling pose...ooeerr..sorry my imagination again...DAVE is still after his little drummer boy and have the perfect drum kit in mini size..will look forward to the re-stock..mmhh that's a point..(reading the above post)..you doing any Mildred Monkees??..x
That 007 sure has a mean streak in him. Guess that's why he's licensed to thrill... ;o)
Could you maybe hire 007 out next year when it comes to present wrapping time. Clearly he is much better at it than I am.
Please reassure me that HP27 didn't go too???? Love today's monkee madness - keep being silly! Lucy x
not for the first time i am noticing that even when you make monkees of similar simian size & style...they all LOOK different & seem to have distinct expressions and personalities...how do ya DO THAT, woman??! (sigh) you are JUST TOO COOL!
ps: i am excited to see a photo of YOU (*RGY!*) lurking, diane fosse-like, near the knitted clan...MONKEES IN DA MIST...in the kitchen... :)
I can always count on you to make me want to laugh out loud!! I think that 007 is one talented monkee and wonder if I could borrow him to wrap my parcels next Christmas!
Maybe you should fit a tracking device like they have on Spooks....
Do you think 007 needs a girlfriend to relieve some of his pent up ( sexual?)frustrations??
Aww she said sex Miss, thats naughty.
Just one question - has that blue/purple flecked monkee got my name on it?
can I borrow 007 next time I need to wrap a parcel, please?
a monkey lost in action/at sea/or worse??????
i will not sleep a wink until he is found.....
someone call the police
tracy x
Yes, we've yet to see our stunt monkee, and though it's easy to blame the US Post, we've been suspecting foul play by our very own stunt bonobo, Bart. A few days after Christmas, Bart out of the blue expressed concern over having to "share his cookies" with a "horribly rude purple stunt monkee with a British accent." His little brother, Buzz, backed him up, stating that there simply aren't enough pudding cups to go around. Hmmm... bonobo conspiracy?
Seriously, though, Tragic Christmas! My husband got me a knitted monkee and it got lost in the mail! Thank for making us a new one! We'll let you know if the first one shows up!
I love your posts lol always make me smile x
oh no, there's a missing monkey on the loose somewhere. I think we need to distribute some Missing posters!!
brilliant post, beautifully acted out by the monkeys!! bravo monkeys!!
and thanks for linking me on your blog, we will have to start the SSBS soon (Society of Second Best Sisters)
Your monkeys are fantastic and your blog is extremely funny I really enjoyed my visit :o) Monkeys have always had a special place in our lives my youngest son was given a 7" old fashioned monkey when he was 4 yrs old. Monkey wasn't new and went everywhere with him and over the years had many operations to keep him in one piece. Many a story was fabricated at night about his adventures of that day. He now resides in a special place at my sons home, I know he'll never be given away not even to his 6yr old son :o) Keep up the good work of keeping monkeys in the limelight :o)
from a fellow Brit
Peg :o)
Congratulations to Gladys!
Daffy Duck, haha!
Oh my that 007 is such a jealous fellow! It seems that HP27 might be learning some bad habits???
Thanks for the laughter!!
Great post - perhaps 007 could get a job at Harrods in the gift wrapping department to help supplement monkee towers income. There have been more monkee adventures in Australia.
Oooh can you imagine - Monkeys On A Plane "An FBI agent takes on a plane full of deadly and knitty monkees, deliberately released to kill a witness being flown from Honolulu to Los Angeles to testify against a mob boss". No wonder 007 is pissed ...
that grappling looks suspicious to me, is it just my mind?
How do you knit so quickly? I just love reading what the monkee's are up to next.
I love reading your blog! Your monkees make me LAUGH! They seem to be a fun bunch!
I hope one day I will be lucky enough to give one of your monkees a good home!
