Daily Photo # 31

RBD1's bedroom. Nice.

And with that in mind, don't you just love school holidays? Were they this long when I was young? I think not. Or this frequent? Or this rainy? Definitely not. And how old do I sound moaning like that?? Very!

Today after taking my RBD's for a promised shopping trip in which they skip around happily carrying cute carrier bags with string handles and I sob quietly into my purse, I shall be taking solace in this ......

a new mug!

...... or I could borrow the one I got for RGH ........

And I'll be wondering just what it is that's missing from my life ........

Happy half term to parents everywhere, and to non-parents too - enjoy those quieter roads while you can!

Random Monkey Shot #5

Monkeys bits.
I'm getting there.

Wednesday, May 16

Today I shall mostly be doing this ......

(what was that saying about not airing your dirty laundry in public?)

Yes, this is my laundry room ...... ok, cupboard. SOMEHOW the laundry has built up and built up and I can no longer wait for the laundry pixies to come in and help me out. So today is the day I dive in and get it sorted. Nice.

When I first broached the subject with my RGH of me taking a day off in the week, he understandably said that if I was having one, he wanted one too. Fair enough, but sadly the bank manager didn't see it quite that way.

So after convincing my RGH that ALL the laundry would be done, ALL the food shopping, along with ALL the cleaning and tidying and it would mean that I made him at least ONE home cooked meal a week, he suddenly thought it was a fantastic idea.

Bah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!! The poor, sweet, innocent, naive, gullible gorgeous fool!

Still. I think the world is probably a better place for there being nearly six more knitted monkeys in it.

So. There shall be none of this going on at chez Monkee Maker today .....

And definitely none of this ....... (no, really, there won't be. Honest)

Incidentally, just in case anyone happened to look in hoping to see any actual knitted monkeys, here is a Random Monkey Shot to keep you going and normal service will be resumed shortly.

What the ...........?

Update :

Ta da!!

Right, no-one can ever change their clothing again - got that?

And it wasn't all bad. I had to run some errands and while I was out I happened upon this lovely combo :

Ok, so it's not muffin but it's still full of butter and sugar and choc chips. Yay!

To procrastinate or not to procrastinate ..... I'll think about that later

When RBD2 asked for Monkey No. 6 back in March, (yes, there are a couple more to catch up with yet), I thought "Yeah, sure, her birthday isn't until May, I've got plenty of time". Now her birthday is in nine days and this weekend my needles have been ON FIRE! (Not literally you understand)

I cast on straight away - love casting on a new monkey, LOVE IT - but then, half way through the second arm I kind of got monkeyed out (mention that to the monkeys and I'll deny all knowledge). So although I still did bits and bobs on it I also did a few other little projects and loads of blog stalking and surfing. And now, as a result, there's smoke coming off my needles and callouses forming on my fingers in my haste to get it finished in time.

And I've realised that this whole leaving-things-till-the-last-minute-vibe runs through my whole life.

My RBD's school uniforms :- washed late sunday night, ironed monday morning.

Getting ready for work :- Knit or surf until twenty minutes before I have to leave the house then jump in the shower, make my lunch, get my bag ready, and generally just PANIC!

Changing bed sheets :- actually you don't want to know, but believe me, I procrastinate.

Ditto cleaning bathrooms :- any visitors coming? Where's the Cif?!

Booking a summer holiday :- we'll be able to camp SOMEWHERE!

At work :- I'll wait until I have a really HUGE pile of filing and then tackle it instead of doing it in easy piecemeal stints.

Anyway, I blame my parents (well, it couldn't be my fault, could it?). This is my very very postponed teenage rebellion to their always being busy, always working.

Actually, it could just be that I'm very very lazy.

Enough chat - on with the monkeys!
