While they were out .....

....... I decided to dust off my sewing machine and use up this rather red material I've had knocking about the place.

A while ago I found a bag pattern that I wanted to try out over on tiny happy's site, which looked quite speedy and simple. And it probably would be quite speedy and simple if you actually took the time to read the instructions properly and then - here's an idea - follow them.

I made some very silly mistakes, such as this one ......

....... sewing the inside pocket in completely the wrong place. Hmm, how handy, to have the pocket wrapping around the side of the bag. Obviously being the consummate professional / lazy person* I am I left it like that. (*delete as applicable)

I probably should have done something about this too ........

And to think, my first job was as a seamstress. Tut tut!

Still, overall, if you don't look too closely, it turned out ok.

Because a girl can never have too many bags.

Oh, and Happy back to school day - Hurrah!

Monkey Fatigue Syndrome strikes again

But is it MFS I wonder? Maybe it's just that I get easily distracted. Hmm, but I'm a woman - surely it's multi-tasking? Anyway, whatever it is, I needed to prove that not all sock monkeys are scary. So for the princely sum of two British pounds I purchased four pairs of pretty socks. Bargain!

Using the Web-Goddess's pattern again I was pedal to the metal on my sewing machine.

And soon a monkey menagerie was created! (Excuse the pink spotty one - she wasn't quite ready for a photo-shoot)

Three of the four were snapped up and disappeared upstairs and to a friends house, but this little guy sits alone and unloved on top of a cupboard.

Can't think why.

Dennis - The sock monkey Menace

I mentioned yesterday getting "monkeyed out" and I think most knittists would agree that when you're working solidly on one thing it can get a little ...... tedious. Especially if you happen to buy new yarn or materials and are desparate to get cracking on a new project! So during one spell of MFS (Monkey Fatique Syndrome) I was surfing for inspiration and came upon a rather marvellous tutorial at the Web-Goddess's site, to make your own sock monkey. She's made some fantastic monkeys out of humble pairs of socks and I was inspired. Plus, they're monkeys! So I assembled the ingredients and got started.

Things started off well .......

And indeed finished off well ......
until people told me he was scary

What, little Dennis? In a little bag? Scary??

He's not scary, is he?

IS HE??

I mean, do these guys look scared?

BOO!!

Dennis is currently residing in the spare room. Facing the wall. He has to be hidden when guests come.
