So, as previously mentioned, last weekend we visited some of our relatives in sunny Devon and Cornwall.
We made sure we had the essentials .....
Monkee ..... check
Chocolate ..... check
Pigeon ..... check
007 playing cards ..... check
After a long and boring journey, we settled into our five star accommodation then got busy with the treats ......
..... but I think he may have regretted his greediness the next day ......
We didn't actually do much in St. Ives with ......
...... as it was so incredibly windy ......
..... Greg found it especially difficult .....
And we were all relieved to get to my Brother-in-law's house. It was our first visit there and we were very impressed by it's beautiful features.
..... and this impressive cast iron oven .....
Although he did seem a little confused about what was meant to be cooking ......
The views scrubbed up pretty well too .....
Next day we visited some "friends", and I'm happy to report that no monkee business went on. Just a little pigeon baiting ......
..... and really, what's a little pigeon baiting between friends. Especially when said friends feed you up with delicious curry, make sure your glass is always topped up and offer to let your kids sleep over! (Plus, I think Greg actually quite enjoyed the attention .....)
So the next day we headed to a rather marvellous chocolate shop in Exeter, and picked them up a little Thank you. Although they were lucky to get them, as someone else had his beady eye on them ......
When we stopped for a coffee, it looked like 007 and Greg had fallen out ......
I'm not too sure but I think this may have had something to do with it .....
..... when 007 posed in front of Exeter Cathedral ......
..... and while he was being photographed I made sure that 007 was put away safely and comfortably .....
...... or maybe I didn't ......
..... I hope it helps ......
Well, that's it for today, please come back next time when I'll be reacquainting myself with that lovely man who brings me gifts on a virtually daily basis .....
Oh no! Wait!! I was forgetting! Something very exciting did actually happen while we were in Cornwall. Contrary to my earlier statement about Greg's wings, it appears that he can indeed fly.
During one flight out to sea, he came upon a miniature galleon and crew .....
(.... no, I haven't been drinking ....)
Once on board he rallied the crew into mutiny so that he could become the new Captain ..... well, those wings were really tired and he had to get back to land somehow .....
Cap'n Greg Pigeon ..... he could take Jack Sparrow with his wings tied behind his back!

ROFLMAO. Crazy, crazy pigeon/monkee toting lady. This really cheered me up this morning (especially as DD is being a total cowbag for some reason).
I think I'd still have to put my money on good old Captain Jack though. I mean, where's a pigeon going to keep pistols? ;)
xMx
Thanks for cheering up a wet and dismal morning!!
I love that photo of RGH with his handbag and monkee :)
Whilst Cap'n Greg does indeed make a very convincing pirate he just isn't Mr Depp....
xx
Oh the heady heights a woolly pigeon can reach eh?
I think 007 is suffering from sibling rivalry. Can see it in his eyes.
RGH needs a bag of his own methinks...
I am going to chuckle all day at the idea of you getting a reputation for yourself all around Exeter :)
Capt Greg can take Capt Jack just by sitting on him. But Capt Jack is still Johnny Depp (swoon).
I am so glad you all had a great time, specially RGH getting a go with the handbag. Has 007 forgiven RGH for being seen in public like that??
What is really worrying me is, what state was your house in when you returned. I mean leaving all the others on their own. Had they had a party, young folk are known to do that when the elders leave them home alone. or did you leave someone in charge??
As lovely as greg is , and he truly truly is......he is no jack sparrow - I'm just sayin'.
Loving RGH and the bag, he seems awfully attached to it. Shame his birthday has just passed, he will have to wait util Christmas now.
Pigeon baiting v. funny. Like that Gordon Setter would do anything other than possibly slobber him into submission.
Where did RGH gets his handbag? Nice brown leather - I've been looking for ages.
As for Captain Jack and Greg ... hmmm, Johnny/Greg ... Johnny/Greg. It's such a tough choice but I think I'm going to have to plump for Johnny . Can't you get a nasty disease from snogging a pigeon?
x
Don't tell 007, but Greg's picture in front of the cathedral looks better than his.
Looks like you all had fun!
Am I the only person who rates 007 > Greg > Johnny Depp in order of attractiveness ?!!
I quite agree with Nia re order of attractiveness. I can honestly say that Johnny Depp does nothing for me, but 007.... lets just say I am still a child at heart
Oh I love this site so much, it is so funny! I have tagged you over on my site (though perhaps a little too serious for monkeemaker, lol). Thanks for making me laugh and brightening my day!
Hmm. Obviously this is a very good post, but I'm afraid I do have a complaint: this is the second time you've mentioned your new bag, without showing a proper picture! Enquiring eyes what to see, you know.
Yours,
Rather-obsessed-with-bags,
of Brizzle.
PS. bags bags bags bags bags bags bags bags bags bags bags bags bags bags bags bags bags bags bags etc unto infinity...
It looks like you all have a fantastic trip! :) It also seems like 007 and Greg are getting to know each much better. :D
hahaha I like how your husband holds your bag! I make mine hold my purse all the time. It's a true testament of love. :)
Ha! We have loads of pics of my husband holding my bag on varoius holidays (how else could I take a picture?) Sorry... maybe it was RGH's own bag???
I'm with Kitty on the Johnny/Greg debate - no competition I'm afraid.

Great photos as always! Greg is making himself indispensible as 007's sidekick - I like it!
Brilliant photos and holiday update.
Nice arse shot of 007!!
i think greg could take on captain jack sparrow with confidence! i mean, yeah, capt. jack has pistols...but having parked awdrey near some pigeons last week, i can tell you...they've got their own distinctive weapons! savvy??!
(ps: did you say 007 playing cards??!)
I am getting blog caught up, please wish RGH a wonderful (late) birthday! I just adore his pic, with your bag and 007!
007 exploits had me rolling, great job!
Just to let you know if you're ever on your way to cornwall there is also a Hotel Chocolat at Drake's Circus in Plymouth.
Saying that i am a member of the chocolat club so i actually get them delivered each month to me, although that could be risky for you as 007 might get to them before you.

what a lovely pigeon he is, he is.....!
Toby.
Brilliant break and your photos made me smile. Jack Sparrow is my favourite but Greg is close second! Jane x
Gorgeous photos - looks like you had a fantastic time! And 007 and Greg too!
Do you have a pattern you could share for Greg? He is so cute and very "Wallace and Gromit"-y (like the penguins!)!
