Late night shopping

Many thanks to everyone who visited my shop last night, and to all those with incredibly fast fingers who swooped in to bagsy one of these ......

..... camera-shy monkees. (Is there such a thing??)

I have a slight confession to make now that it's all over. There were meant to be seven monkees for the shop until something devastating happened.

Remember HP6? All pure new Merino wool and skinny needles? I haven't got a picture to hand, but if you click on Mrs Pao's site, you'll see him up to mischief over there. Anyway, I really didn't enjoy knitting him (sorry HP6), because of said skinny yarn and needles.

But I thought I'd give it another crack, as he seemed popular ......

HP27

And here he is, posing happily with HP26......

...... and here he is ......

...... WITH A GREAT BIG HOLE IN HIS BACK!! Aaaarrrrrgggghhhhh!!

I was devastated!! You know how you hide the sewing up thread in the body? I'd been snipping it off with really sharp scissors. Nuff said. Apart from : I nearly cried.

RGH was happy though (he's not very empathetic) and immediately suggested that HP27 stays here to be trained as a new stunt monkee. So now 007 has a new ironically darned playmate.

Oh-oh.

For the last couple of posts I've been forgetting the thought for the day. Here's today's .....

I haven't yet done the "how normal are you?" test I saw on Kitty's site recently (too scared I guess), but after these thought provoking words, maybe I don't need to.

Alas, it happens to the best of us. Many a time have I gone around town unwittingly with holes in my garment, garments misbuttoned, garments on inside out (I actually didn't realize I'd done this until I was in the washroom at work). Or maybe it's just me...

Oh no poor baby monkee - you should sew/make him a plaster xxxx

Oh ***** ******* *******. I forgot.

If I comfort eat all day today and come out of work looking like the marshmallow man out of Ghostbusters it will be YOUR fault.

I can honestly say it's the first time I've ever eaten breakfast whilst looking at 6 monkey's bottoms. I think it's quite a claim to fame.

I've given up on the normal thing - I'm just going to convince myself that 'abnormal' is the new normal. Denial? What denial? :-) x

Are you sure 007 didn't sabotage him just so that he could have a new stunt monkee sidekick?

Great sale last night MM - really got the adrenalin pumping! It made me feel very old and slow because I couldn't keep up with those super fast commenters.

I hope you finally got some sleep and didn't have knitting needle nightmares ;)

Poor little monkee. I think he needs some sort of fancy patch.

Glad the sale went well. I was tucked up in bed by that time.

Looking at all those monkee butts in the early morning is almost more than I can take !
HP 27 will be the perfect trainee for 007, he's already got a very interesting scarr :-)

Poor HP27, at least you didn't embarrass him further by selling him as a second! Hope you darned him with matching wool.

Poor HP27 - I would have bought an ironically darned monkee any day! If you'd written the story and put him in the shop he would probably have been the first one to go! Lucy x

I've done the oversnipping thing too. It really sucks. And crying is not an unreasonable reaction.

Here, have a chocolate.

I thought for one dreaful moment you were going to say he had a bad case of moth!!!!!!
Well maybe the life of a stunt monkey isn't so bad....so long as there isn't too much S&M action!

OH NO!! I'm not surprised you were devastated! And as for nearly bursting into tears: I'd have been in floods, so well done to you if you managed to get by with nothing more that a quivery upper lip and a few sniffles.

I'm glad HP27 could be successfully (if ironically) darned, though :o)
VCxx

PS: you were wondering who's on my Christmas List...? You'll just have to wait and see :o)

PPS to Melissa: Nope, it's not just you with the garment problems - I've also gone to work with my clothes on inside out. Had to change in the stationery cupboard when I realised. Oops.

Well he looks just like the monkeys I've been making, only I seem to be able to make holes without scissors!

Well done on the sale, even if I was too slow to bags one.

My twisty has been doing a spot of modelling lately ;)

Surely showing monkey bootys IS NOT monkey abuse....I mean, it's not like you could identify them in a line-up or anything...unless they rolled over....hmmm.

They look like lots of fun.

I am glad HP 26 is happily spending a little time with a wounded primate!

I am not sure about the world seeing his monkey butt though... Haha!!

I think i would have cried if it had been me with the scissors! Maybe a MM designer patch is needed to make it a feature. I'd buy him, i once bought a little bear on holiday in Brugge because he had lost his right arm and looked so sad stuffed in the corner of the shelf. He is now called Vlaams and lives in my large hug of bears. love the Monkee Btm's

They're getting smaller every day! I'm sure he doesn't mind about the darning as long as his dignity is intact. Will we be seeing the pocket monkee soon?
