Happy Valentine's Day

To everyone.

But especially to anyone who didn't receive a card.

(..... that would include me .....)

And to anyone who didn't send a card.

(..... that would be me too .....)

To anyone who never received a card during their formative years ..... apart from one from their Mum.

(..... umm ..... yep ..... over here .....)

Also to anyone whose Mother-in-Law's birthday is today ..... meaning that Mummy gets a card even though wifey doesn't.

(..... Pick me! Pick me!! ...... not that I'm bitter ..... much)

But it's not all bad. I know someone who did get a card .....

Great! I don't get one, but the monkey does! The smug git.

Many thanks to whoever the secret monkee admirer is ..... I have a sneaking suspicion that it's someone who makes lovely cards and corsages, whose name begins with N, but I could be wrong.

But really, I'm not bitter, and if my MiL is reading this ..... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

RGH and I haven't done the valentines thing for years now as we like to think we're quite loved up all year round (plus we're too mean to play into the marketing men's hands), but trying to get into the spirit of romance, I wandered round the house yesterday snapping as many love-ly things as I could.

And thanks to RBD2 introducing me to Picasa while we were away, I made this ....

Love-ly Valentine collage

I LOVE Picasa! How come nobody told me about it before? I could possibly be the last person in the world to realise what my photos have been missing. The effects you can achieve are fantastic.

Like this ......

Curious George? Or just Nosey 007 .....

And this .....

RBD2 working on her own arty shot

And this .....

RBD1 yearning for MSN

I think I'm in love ..... with a photo editing application. Now do you see why I didn't get any cards? Happy Valentine's Day, and please expect more doctored photos from me next time .....

Ooh. Thank RBD2 for the picasa tip. I didn't know about this. Hours more time shall be spent ignoring children while mummy plays on the computer.

Mea Culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa (beats chest a la Roman stylee for emphasis).

I thought everyone was onto Picasa otherwise I would have said something. Assumed you would know all about this being a clever flikr and Moo cards type person.

Again with the apologies (in English this time)but loving the heart collage. Am off to ignore other people's children all morning now to photograph and make collages of Valentinesy things.

word ver: Valentines? More yearning over dearth......

That hearty collage thing is wonderful ... I'm off to check out Picasa today!

Oh and you're not the only one with no Valentines Card - although No.2 did write on my shopping list 'To Mum, Happ Valentimes xxx' ... does that count?

:-) x

Happy Valentine's Day from another no Valentine household (but I think I'll buy my son one later just to confuse him and wind him up).

Now I'm off to discover the delights of Picasa .....

TOO funny!

I know the founder/creator of Picasa! His name is Lars. My family and I have been vacationing with him and his family in the Bahamas for years! You may remember the "LCR Honeymoon" post from Little Cotton Rabbit's site. Those photos were taken while we were on vacation with him. He is the NICEST guy ever!

I remember when he told us that he sold the company to GOOGLE! Yeah, and all we got was a lousy T-shirt that said..."my friend just sold his company to Google"!

He is very passionate about Picasa and really put his heart and soul into making it great! I am going to send him the link to this post. He will be very flattered.

Oh, and HP32 will be in the Bahamas this year and will certainly meet Lars when we are there.

No Valentine's cards/gifts in the Locket household either - although I am meant to be making Mr L a cushion as part of the Loo-sley challenge. I rather spoilt it for him yesterday when I said how naff I thought it was that Asda was smothered in "romantic bouquets" and middle aged men buying the obligatory bunch of flowers - he then said, "well, there's my plan spoilt!" Ooops! Lucy x

We don't do Valentines either but my builder gave me half a toblerone this morning, and that was after I'd asked him to move the loo 3 inches to the left, so I think that counts.

I've heard of picasa but I'd assumed it was the same thing as flickr. I think there's possibly too much internet for me now.

hi :-)
I'm sorry to say newton abbot doesn't have a hobbycraft !! we got there and it turns out they'd seen hobby warehouse ('it's nearly the same isn't it?) which is the david and charles factory shop. It sells craft books and jigsaws and a very teeny tiny amount of craft stuff. I bought nothing!! We did visit a good craft shop on a road near the station (don't know what it's called but there were loads of kebab shops!) and that's well worth a look!!
sorry to get your hopes up there!! i didn't write it on the blog because i think mum was a bit annoyed with herself that it wasn't hobbycraft!!

Hubby and I do cards luck him he got one with Mel on it. Picassa is good. Lovely valentines story my 21 year old daughter got flowers sent to her work she works for an ophthalmologist so all the patients are old, she said the waiting room went into melt down with goos and gars. Old ladies giving their poor husbands a really hard time while they waited. They then wanted her to read out the card - she declined.

oooooooooooh! ok, if you're gonna do artsy EDITING too, my head may essplode from being so jealous! ...well...except...then i couldn't SEE the cool things you do...or the monkees...or the muffins...ok, nevermind, essplosion cancelled. (for NOW!) :)

ps: couldn't agree more re marketing and valentines and year-round loooOOOoooove...but this year jeff & i both (coincidentally) caved; probably b/c he's been away so much and thus we were easy prey for such manouvers (if that's how one SPELLS manouevers...but then i don't think THAT is, either...can we go with MANIPULATION instead? yeah, much better!) ...thus we were easy prey for such manipulation! :)
