Socks, glorious socks!

Warning : Anyone who has an aversion to feet and/or slightly hairy legs, please look away now.

I have loads of pairs of socks.

.... stripey socks ....

.... heart socks ....

.... argyle socks ....

.... spotty socks ....

.... more stripey socks ....

.... and did I mention heart socks?

Most of these were destined for sock monkeys like this one I made for Lauren (who incidentally, currently has THE most brilliant collage of 007 on her blog) (not my 007 sadly - you know, that blonde pouty guy) .....

.... but now they've been on my smelly beautifully fragrant feet, I guess they'd better just remain as .... well .... socks.

Recently, my virtual friend SuzyB asked me to make her some monkey socks, but I can't so I didn't. Instead I made her this .....

..... a monkey sock sock monkey .....

..... and I thought that was the end of it. But no. SuzyB had to take it one step further. Like I didn't feel bad enough already that I hadn't made her any, she only went and sent me some .....

MONKEY SOCKS!!

*sigh*

Monkey socks AND all this other fabulous stuff .....

.... including this little bag that has monkeys on the outside and knitting on the inside .....

.... inspired!

Thank you, SuzyB. Thank you very much for showing me up so magnificently. And for all the lovely gifts. But especially for these .....

..... monkey socks ......

I love them! And I wear them all the time.

Here's one with some fast-withering flowers .....

..... no - they were withering before my foot got near them .....

Here's one making the bed .....

Here's one reading the Sunday papers .....

Here's one doing the ironing .....

Here's one wondering why those pesky hairy monkees still aren't finished .....

.... sorry for the blurry picture quality ....

.... but it was a long way up .....

Here's one being forced into my boot .....

Here they are in the shower .....

..... and here they are getting ready to cycle to work .....

..... blimey, did I ever get some odd looks that day!

Like I said ..... I love them, thanks SuzyB!

And I think we all know what's coming next .....

.... it just had to be done .....

In other non-sock-related news, we're off to visit relatives in Devon and Cornwall, so I shall be off the blogging radar for a few days.

I just have one packing issue that I'm having trouble with .....

..... hmm ..... who to take ..... who to take .....

..... I think 007's thoughts are pretty clear on that one .....

Those socks are fantastic - how on earth can you ever wear anything else? Actually your whole sock drawer puts mine to shame - I must get more interesting footwear.

007 always wins in the end. You know that :)

I think I have sock envy - those are some awesome foot coverings.
Have a great break.

I notice a pink theme running (pardon the pun....hoho) through your sock candy! Most impressed!

The monkey socks are marvelous! Well done SuzyB, brilliantly modeled too.

Hope you have a lovely few days away.

Ooooooh marvellously lovely sockage at Monkee Towers. Your new monkee socks are fab and I have to say I truly admire your agility - that was some fancy legwork getting your foot up that high!!
Hope 007 enjoys his holiday and that the others don't trash the joint while you're stuffing your face with scones and clotted cream :)

xx

Gosh, that Suzy gives good parcel doesn't she? So handy that those monkey socks come with their own bananas - so they'll never get hungry.

Fab sock monkeys there MM - they are identifiably 'MM monkees'.

Hope you and your family have a lovely Easter, and enjoy your little holiday. x

I love the socks and the sock monkeys. Have a fabulous time away and that goes for 007 too.

P.s your blog always makes me laugh!!

I think it's best to take 007 on his own as he'd beat up/hide the others if they went too, and trash your home if you left him there. Wise decision.

Have a fab break and perhaps give the monkey socks an airing, you don't want those nanas going black - not saying anything about your feet of course! That bottom right pic of your montage looks a bit rude, or is that my mucky mind?!

Ohhhhhhhh, he's cruising for a bruising!

All the pigeons of this world will rise up against him if he's not careful, or at least stare at him with their beady little eyes!

Don't worry lesley, it was easy toget her sock that high. She simply unscrewed it and wedge it there with a ladder!

Blummin 'eck, woman - are you some kind of acrobat?? I was impressed when I saw you'd got your foot up on the ironing board, but the shelf of part-completed monkees? That's getting perilously high, surely! I just hope you did some proper limbering-up exercises before the photo-shoot. And a full health-and-safety-style risk assessment. I know one has to suffer for one's art, but it's really not worth doing yourself an injury just for the sake of your blog ;o)

Anyhoo, have a very very happy time away (and I agree with 007 that he's the obvious choice to take with) and I'll look forward to your return to the blog-radar when you get back :o)
VCxx

PS. About the little bag from SuzyB: it's lovely, of course, but I'm just not sure about the combination of knitting and monkeys - that'd never catch on, surely? ;o)

Excellent sock monkeytastic post! I love the litte banana on the monkey socks :) The fluffy, coloured monkees FAB too.

Homer Cuthbert Stool/ Greg has obviously had one trip to the coffee shop too many- he's too full of muffin to fly out of 007's reach.

Have a great time in Devon and Cornwall!

p.s. strangely enough I DID wonder how you managed to fit so many names on 019's label- very clever :D
p.p.s. my white backround secret=
1)as bad weather follows me I have to take photos in strange places such as in front of a shiny toaster. 2) Use the background eraser tool on Paintshop Pro 6 and make it less opaque around the edges so you can colour around the main picture without it looking too obvious. Ta-dah!

Picture collage, bottom right hand corner picture. I don't know, is it just me (but hubbie says no he thought the same - actually truth be told he thought it first and told me to comment) but is that a monkees willy?????? Is this before the watershed ........

Luv ya!

PS are we included in visit to Devon and Cornwall??? Or is that later in the year? Or did RGH not mention that arrangement ......

Victory for 007. Will you be taking him out for cream teas?. My husband also thinks you should write a book.
Suzy certainly sent you a lovely parcel what a nice lady.
If monkey socks can do all that housework then I want a pair.
Happy Easter.
