My latest obsession

Bags and purses used to be my thing. If I didn't come back from a shopping trip without a new bag then there was something amiss.

But for the last couple of months I've been lugging round a monkee tote (advertising) and I like my tatty flowery faux leather purse so much that I don't want to give it up. So I've developed a new obsession.

For corsages. Brooches. Pins. Badges. Call them what you will, I'm hooked.

I think it started with this cute kitty from Fluffy Flowers ......

..... and continued with this lovely flower from Gigibird and Stella ......

..... closely followed by Lesley's gorgeous material and crochet masterpiece .....

..... then there was this beauty, from Raspberry ......

..... which came in an equally lovely mini tote ..... (ok, so I am still buying the odd bag or two ....)

..... and who could resist this beautiful heart from Nia Jane .....

(I know I couldn't)

..... or this pretty pink flower, also from Nia (the colours in this photo don't do it justice I'm afraid) ....

...... then at Christmas, this cute guy came along, kindly made by the vicious chicken ......

..... and continuing with the monkey theme - how fabulous is this one from Pink Sparrow .....

..... so fabulous that I bought two so that I could give one away. If I'm planning on giving it to you - don't look ..... oops, too late.

So there you have it. My new, completely harmless obsession. The only problem is now that I don't have enough jackets to display them all. But as I loathe and detest clothes shopping, I'll just have to rotate them.

Just before I go I'd like to thank my unwilling victim willing model in today's photo-shoot .....

007. Thanks 007 - you wore them well.

And 007's favourite? It's obvious really ......

..... the pink monkey. The pin wasn't as pointy. Apparently.

Poor old 007. I always tought one day the troops would just rise up and stab him in the back!

Love the badges, poor 007 that had to hurt! what a brave monkee

Thanks for that, I now have 2 flowers on order. Would much prefer a pink monkey on my lapel though! ;)

I would never have thought you were obsessive. Surely knitting hundreds of monkees is normal. I feel your corsage collecting just underlines how 'normal' you are :)

Polish word verification,eh? cwlzzwsk
Very sophisticated....

Mmmmmm what delicious brooches, pins, badges, corsages. I tried to make one at Christmas - can't decide whether I like it or not???

Poor 007 - a pin in the bottom on a rainy day in January is never much fun. :-) x

I am an obsessive badge/brooch/pin/corsage purchaser too. But the darling husband rolls his eyes when I show him yet another felty/knitty/frilly thing with a pin on the back that Mr Posty has brought me.
Bah humbag, that's what I say.

ps the reason for my week long absence - I was skiving. I promise to behave better in future :D

what a wonderful collection you've got there - they're all pretty special. Poor old 007 though - I hope his botty recovers soon!

Just sniggering at Lesley's observations there! Love your collection! Please come and join my swapsie - it wouldn't be right without you! Lucy x

P.S. you wouldn't have to knit a monkey for it!

Glad to see 007 being put to work for a change! Your corsages/brooches etc are all gorgeous - you're giving me ideas!

I was wondering when Monkee face pins were going to debut.

Munkeh said...

so why aren't you adding the pins, etc. to the cloth bag? There are two sides and they hold lots more than a lapel.

personally I like sparkly pins. I have two dragonflies, a sparkly bug and a monkey face pin on my favorite hat.

I can't believe it's only me who's noticed the heart-shaped pin over 007 crotch!! Or maybe everyone else is too polite to mention...?!

A-HA! i am wise to your plan... (lesley almost spilled it, actually) ...correct me if i am wrong, but it seems to go something like this:

1. become obsessed by something outside the mainstream (knitted monkees, cute pins, etc)

2. show mouthwatering pictures of said obsession on hilariously funnee monkee blog...

3. ...thus causing EVERYONE ELSE to also become obsessed with the object of your desire

4. and then...by virtue of the shift in numbers...said obsession becomes...ipso facto...

5. NORMAL!!!

my god, you are brilliant, woman! :)

(ps: tell 007 all the COOL KIDS have multiple piercings...which means he's a cool (& punkee) monkee now!

That 007 is such a wuss. I mean, he didn't complain when you sewed him up, did he? (Or did he?)

Very pretty corsage collection you're amassing there, MM :o)
VCxx

PS glad you posted today - was beginning to worry that you'd gone AWOL. (Although yes, the words 'pot', 'kettle', and 'black' do spring to mind... *blushes*)

After his behaviour with the stunt monkees, I think it teaches him a lesson on who exactly rules monkee towers.

Loving all those flowery/felty things.

Thought I was v clever today, started working out HP pattern, then realised I should have altered the number of rows as well. I gave up, couldn't be arsed to rework it ~ maybe tall skinny monkees are the next big thing!

I love this post, gorgeous goodies! I am such a baglady I understand!!!

Bentley is laughing at 007, little does he know what I am going to post about him soon!

You are a brooch tart.
Which is great for business:)
I have an idea.....you bad girl.

Every sane person needs an obsession or 3. You can tell 007 is a male if he were female he would take the pain and smile.

joanne wardle said...

ooooo that looks painful.
I've nominated you for a "you make my day" award....because you do! see my blog. :)

Finally: 007 pinned down. I swear he is blushing after wearing the floral beauties.

Sussex Yorkie has given me a great idea. Instead of holding out for monkee socks, now Im going to hold out for a teeny weeny weeny teeny monkee badge.

You know, like a 007 only in minature? No? ok.

This is the first time I've been to your blog. I linked to it from Kitty

Anyway, even though you're slightly insane like most bloggers, I love the blog. Colorful and happy. The pictures add a special touch. I'm glad I visited.
