Some post-garden-party (knitted) monkey abuse

Following the strange goings on at our recent garden party, we decided to have more fun with the party hats. .... ok .... I decided to have more fun with the party hats ....

.... must you? ....

.... *sigh* ....

..... are you done yet? ....

Nope.

.... just kill me now ....

I can't show you where I positioned the red shiny hat for the final shot as this is a family blog, but let's just say that 007 didn't complain .....

.... on the other hand ....

And then there was more.

Imagine the scene ....

.... you're a cool monkee about town ....

.... you share your name with the most suave secret agent the world has ever seen ....

.... men want to be you and women want to be with you .... (mm, yeah, I thought I'd gone one step too far with that one too ....)

.... you spot an unattended box of Thorntons ....

.... you move in for the kill ....

.... and you get a baby's bib whipped over your head .... oh, the humiliation!

When I was de-bibbing 007, I remembered that I used to do this with my poncho when I was young. Weird, I know, but being short haired, I wanted to know how it would feel to have long, flowing (albeit orange and turquoise granny squared) hair ....

.... or to help me make up my mind whether or not to become a Nun.

(.... I didn't, just in case you were wondering ....)

Please don't feel alone in the whoe 'wearing your jumper over your head thing'.

There is a generation of Australians (now in their 30s&40s)who pretended to be Peter Garrett* on a regular basis by flinging their school jumpers over their heads and pretending to be bald.

This was usually accompanied by jerky arm dance movements and belting out of politcal song lyrics.

Oh, the indignities of it all, poor 007.

007, if it all gets too much for you, there is plenty of space for you here and no (well not too much) Monkee torture takes place here ;o)

I love the '007 does Madonna' pose!!
I too did the whole 'pretending to have long hair with my poncho' thing. I seem to remember mine was bright red!

007 does look very cute with his cheeky bib on :)

I love it! 007 as Madonna in her conical bra phase. And I used to do that with my poncho, too.

Geez, I feel so deprived. I never even had a poncho! AND my mother insisted on putting a permanent in my hair so it was short and curly - YUK. I longed for long flowing locks.

Poor 007, you can come live at my house (across the pond). All my primates are situated on a lovely blue chair where they can chat and plan for the "Monkee Take-over of the World" No chance of getting shuttled off the the Nunnery here.

Great post. I am positive that 007s expression changes in each picture especially the one with the bib! I love the Madonna one - maybe the bib over the 'bra' might make a good picture! 007 in touch with his feminine side?

You got me rolling on the floor with the Madonna pose :) I've read couple of your recent posts and I feel I NEED to read them ALL. I love 007.

Don't worry I used to do that "how would I look like with long hair or as a nun" thing too. I didn't have a poncho so I used towels or t-shirts.

PMSL. Poor 007. Bless him. He's long suffering at your hands MM.

And I used to do that with both my kids.... the thing with the nun bib, not the party hat thing - obivously. Although.... that could be quite amusing.... hmm.....

How many........ are in that sentance (and I use that term loosely!). Bonkers.

Caution...never read Monkee Maker's blog while trying to supervise 4 moving men in a small flat.

I just "snort" laughed so loud the movers are now insisting that I show them what was so darn funny.

You can now add "moving men" to your growing list of blog fans!

I'm crying this morning with his latest antics. Loving Madonna, but the bib did it for me - thank goodness I'd put my coffee down as it was too hot!!

I did the poncho thing too, only mine was a veil as I got married. Maybe this was the reason my ex didn't want to marry me? He was worried about the red and white stripes.

You are too funny!!! I think every kid pulled something over their head... mine was probably just a shirt... and we did pretend we were nuns! Or Maria in Sound of Music! You are always giving me a chocolate craving!!!

Erm...I really hope Greg wasn't still under the hat for that last party hat photo :s

Methinks these would be good photos for a range of monkee birthday cards- I would certainly buy them!

Does this mean that he is part primate?

I still do the thing from the last picture to my children when I'm helping them get ready for bed!

Your posts just keep getting better and better. 007 is destined for stardom. Deprived of a poncho, but my beautiful flowing long hair was a towel :)

The scary thing is that I'm really starting to believe that 007 is alive - his whole facial posture/body language thing is so realistic!

You are a cruel Maker and Tormentor of Monkees though - you should be ashamed of yourself!

007, you are a star! You make me laught so much.
I hope Greg is OK...

You are so cruel... but so funny! Love the conical bra! Confession... I too used to do that "long hair" thing with my jumpers too - how many of us are there!

Oh MY GOSH! These pictures are hilarious!!! I especially like the one of 007 and two party hats on his head. hehehe that was cute!

I have to agree - 007 as Madonna (circa 19990s) takes the cake. Or the toffee, as the case may be. Mmm, Thorntons. There used to be a Thorntons shop in Copley Square in Boston, but I believe that has been closed for some time now (and I no longer live anywhere near Boston, alas). I think all of us on this side of the pond are out of luck these days with toffee...

You have made my day! I have come home sick again today...pathetic I know having not even managed to complete a whole half(???)of 'mornings only' at work yet. Was depressed, fed up and seriously getting worse as the day dragged on. BUT then I just read your blog, 007 you are so funny you should be in the films!
Thanks again for lifting my sad sorry old spirits.

I forgot to say...I have lots of photos of my babies with their bibs over their heads too!!

Love 007 as a Nun. Hilarious. :)

I'm afraid I'm in the jumper over the head thing too even though I already had long hair. I just wanted long blonde hair like Mary Hopkins. LOL

lauren said...

now see, as a young girl i HAD long flowing orange and turquoise granny squared hair...but i wanted blonde curls! ...sigh... i guess we just never want what we've got! :)

(ps: probably a good call on the nun issue!) (& i suspect RGH agrees on this point.)
