I'm a bit concerned about the latest creation hot off the needles at Monkee Towers. I'm worried that HP6 (yes, I have technically gone out of order) looks more like a mouse than a monkee ......
Don't be fooled that it appears to look much bigger than those "apples". Or even that it looks quite monkee-esque sat on these railings .......
(please note ...... this is not our street. Sometimes at weekends RGH and I like to walk around the posh area of Bristol, maybe have a coffee there, and just generally pretend that we live there. We don't.) (And never will) (Sigh) (Like they'd let a monkee nutter like me live amongst them!)But have you ever seen a monkee so small that it needed A REALLY BIG ARROW pointing it out?
...... or one so tiny that it could get lost IN GRASS? ........
....... one so small that it could be inadvertently posted?
....... a monkee so titchy that even a baby seat swamped it?
...... or a monkee that could fit in a tea-cup??
I think not.
Oh, and don't be alarmed by the fact that we were trying out the competition this weekend ...... we still managed to fit in one of these ........

And just in case you're wondering about the proportions of the latest titchy HP, it's the same pattern as the others but using skinny minnie 4 ply wool and super slim No. 13 / 2.25mm needles. But I have a question for anyone who makes whole garments with said skinny wool and needles ...... how?? It's so fiddly and takes so long!

I am one of those knittists you refer to - even though, apart from the IMP (Improved Monkey, Purple) I am currently working on a giant coat/cardi with 7mm needles and feel like I'm knitting with baseball bats). It takes a lot of perseverance but, given the choice between persevering and looking like that Michelin Bibendum Blob (which I do, particularly in chunky *cabled* garments), I choose the tiny needles (the biggest needle size I'm comforatble with is 3,5 mm). That's what you get for being more Kate Winslet than Audrey Hepburn.
On a side note - HP 6 is not only cute but (unless my eyes deceive me) also a Designer Monkee, right? He's sporting a Designer Label on his cute behind - how posh!
"Ironic", eh? I'm an ironic seamsstres as well (though I improved a lot during my knittist years, as I used to be a caustic, then a sarcastic one..ahem).
And personally I think *all* designer labels should be positioned in the botty area.
HP6 is fab, MM! Worth the fiddliness I feel. And now you can't be embarrassed about getting your monkee out in public ever again - he's so small that people would need a magnifying glass to spot him!
I like the name tag very much too. Were you worried that you might lose him, as he's so tiny? OR, does the acquisition of branded name tags indicate that merchandising of the monkee product is imminent? (please?)

I'm loving HP6 - not at all mouse like!! As for skinny wool and any needles *sigh* always wished I could knit. Fell over your blog the other day - love it, keep up the monkey mischief ;o)

Very cute HP6 - a pocket sized Monkee - I could do with one of those. I've never got on with 4 ply either - it just doesn't grow fast enough for me!

4ply and skinny needles? The Chinese Mandarins bred very small dogs they could keep in their sleeves. HP6 doesn't strike me as the sleeve monkey type; more of a sock monkey perhaps? I won't use anything smaller that a 2¾ with 4ply, and neither would I knit anything larger than a sock at that gauge...I'm not a complete glutton for punishment, so well done for the dedication to duty, Monkee Maker!!

I can announce to you all that Vera has a fancy designer label sewn to her botty too. She doesn't like to show it off too much though (saving that honour exclusively for 007 apparently!

I'm with MrsPao - I too have been told size doesn't matter.
MM, HP6 seems to be more similar in size to my monkeys, minus the oddly distended limbs.

I recently bought some 2 ply and I can see why it was languishing in the charity shop at only 50p a ball despite being Jaeger merino...it's probably for people who don't have tellies with nothing to do in the evenings.

i was loving the term "mousee monkee" until working mom came up with "preemie primate"! :)
i'm not so keen on the teeny needlage myself...tho the results ARE undisputably adorable! (ok, i confess for a while i harbored hopes that bristol possessed a cafe selling muffins the size of my head--i was planning a field-trip!)
anyway, now i wonder, conversely, what the stunt monkee made with bulky yarn and size 13's would get you?! granny-square gorrilla, anyone??! :)
