Stock? Who needs stock??

Thanks so much for all the great comments yesterday - who knew there were so many similarly afflicted people in the bedroom department?! But ..... ummm ..... you do realise that this is the giveaway post, don't you? Now you'll have to leave another comment, to be in with a chance of winning a monkee related product!

Talking of which, my up-coming monkee shop will be opening next Wednesday. There's no link to it yet as I'm still madly hoovering and dusting shelves. Bah ha ha ha ha!! As if! But seriously, inspired by Julie I've decided to give a shop on my blog a whirl. I'm sure that the demand for relatively small acrylic monkees will be no-where near that for those gorgeous Little Cotton Rabbits, so hopefully there will be enough to go round.

In the meantime I thought I'd give you a little taster of what will be on offer next Wednesday, so four names will be picked at random from my trusty knitted hat and each person will win one of the following items :-

If you're like RGH and you enjoy a cold beer but don't enjoy cold fingers, I have the perfect solution for you. The first name out of the hat will win this beer sock avec monkee face .....

The sock works equally well on cans or bottles, but please note that beer is not included in this amazing offer. A slightly scary felted monkee face is though .....

Mmm. Still working on those .....

Or if, like me, you start each day full of good intentions to actually eat the recommended five portions of fruit and veg, and pop a banana in your bag ..... only to bring it home again - hey - banana's like day trips ..... how about this .....

Your very own banana-sized and colour bag avec felted monkee face decoration.

Second name out of the hat wins it .... and look! Plenty of room to give two banana's a little run out and back .....

And don't worry - there's even room to hold proper snacks as well!

Please note : Banana's and proper snacks not included

Next up, and going to the third name out of the hat, is this set of six festive Christmas cards, featuring 007 and captions such as "007 does Santa", "Ho Ho Bloody Ho", "Merry Knitted Christmas", "007 thought Santa had been a tad miserly" and "Merry Christmas Baubles" ......

..... and each has a "Happy Christmas" greeting. I was really chuffed with the way these cards turned out, until I saw a certain someones cards up close and personal, and now I have talent envy. But more of that after this self-imposed blog abstinence .....which the thought of is bringing me out in a cold sweat.

Anyway. Moving swiftly on. The last name picked will win this ......

HP6 - the inside-out monkey ie. smooth body, arms and legs, lumpy hands, feet, mouth and ears. And did I mention it's pink?

So, there you have it. Or you could have it if you leave a comment between now and bright and early next Wednesday morning. And if your comments could include any tips for prospective shop keepers that would be smashing, thanks.

Oh, and the rules - just two ......

Please come back to check if you've won anything.

And if you're commenting anonymously, please leave a name. Make one up if you like, I don't mind.

See you next week ...... *sigh*

I do love competitions, mind you if I come first out of the hat I would have to learn to drink beer! Your cards are gorgeous, hope they will be appearing in your shop, and as for the banana bag, well the monkeys here are already fighting over who would have it.

Anonymous said...

Ohh just realised I was the first to commment, obviously a good omen.

Munkeh said...

I may be 2nd to comment - unless someone beats me to the "enter " key. I believe the bottle sleeve would work as well for a soda - doncha think (beer isn't my fav) but gingerale almost qualifies. The snack bag is grand and the cards are a hoot. I trust they will be at Monkees-R-Us (its something like that, isn't it?) and the pink Munkeh is too cute! How are going to be able to wait til next wednesday - one long "pickin" week - I can tell you!!! Best wishes for Monkees-R-Us! I'm sure the shop will be a hit!

I've been having a look around my house and have discovered I have quite a plethora of primates. Who knew (not me)

I want the bag (but any of the other lovlies are fine). I need to win this time. But I do want the bag!!!!!!!

Vera likes them all! Our heating has broken down, so maybe the little beer sock could double up as a sleeping bag for baby bunnies! (Bartholomew is very excited by this prospect...)

What a generous giveaway, they're all fab prizes but I think the cards are my favourite, they're so funny! Enjoy your week off, we'll miss you!

Kae said...

OMG!! OMG!!! *Jumps up an down excitedly* Your prizes are fab!!! Likes them all, especially the Christmas cards (that kinda thing was my plan for mine!!! lol) :D

As for Monkees-R-Us ... easy to navigate and Paypal - that's all I usually look for when shopping online (not only for monkee supplies but everything else as well :D )Apart from that I don't have any clever advice... I think... lol.

Have fun dusting the shelves; will miss ya!!!

I love all the prizes, well they are Monkey related. Just have to win now!

LoveAnna said...

Monkee, monkee, monkee! My old monkey (who also happens to be knitted) is feeling very lonely and would welcome a pink companion. Given that he's as old as I am he'd welcome anything that would brighten his retirement!

As for the shop, pretend all your customers are as daft as I am (even though nobody can be as bad as that) and make it easy to use and easy to pay for. Paypal is good, especially as not everybody has a credit card but most people have some sort of account they can use for pp. Oh and make sure the monkees all look happy....er...I mean eager to be rescued.

Rhian said...

Wow, I would love any of your products but especially the monkee!!! Love your work. xx

Good lord, hope I haven't mislead anyone with my "monkees-r-us" crack. That isn't the real name of her new store. Sorry folks. I will shutup now. (pulling foot out of mouth)

really?
now i will have to get on with proper grown up things like the hoovering
damm you monkee lady
see you in a week then
missing you and the primates already
tracy x
p.s - no advice about the shop - i am such a bad, lazy shop keeper that i would only be passing on bad and lazy habits!

actually that is my advice
do not be bad or lazy

There's a distinct lack of monkees around my house. Will you take pity on me? Or am I going to be forced to spend real money next week?

Crafty Librarian said...

I can feel my (in)sanity dripping away already at the prospect of a week without monkeyness :-(

I just finished the Monkey sock swap, so have been searching high and low for monkey goodies to send my pal - they hide when you look for them you know!

Who'd have thought that monkeys could be so addictive?

Monkey monkey monkey monkey ....

Gigibird said...

On behalf of my monkey loving neighbour I would like to put my name in the hat....if I win anything she will let herself in and steal it....

Mrs Moog said...

I love your Monkee Christmas cards but I'd have to keep them all rather than send them! All your giveaway goodies are totally gorgeous and I would be extremely over-excited to win any of them :o)
I've been too scared to do the shop thing myself yet but I'll keep an eye on everyone's suggestions.
Have a lovely few days off - you could knit another 20 Monkees in that time - how about a banana coloured one that could go undetected in a banana tree?

Anonymous said...

I would love the monkee;-) Although I don't know what my husband will say about another primate here;-)

Suzie Sews At DOTTY RED said...

Oh can I win it all if I just sit here all day and leave comment after comment...I love all of it...all of it do you hear!!!
Now I am assuming your selling some Christmas cards in your shop...they are so cool. My tip...if it is possible post up someplace that if your a UK shopper you will accept cheques but will have to wait for them to clear. (assuming your happy to accept cheques) I do not have a paypal account and I so would spend much more if people with net shops would accept cheques. On the other hand maybe its a good thing they don't as I would have no money left to feed the kids!!!

Stephanie C said...

another p.s. Seven whole days without monkees... %#$@$#%%! OH NO!

Anonymous said...

Totally positive I *won't* win, but anyways (besides I won't win for sure if I don't enter, right?)...
On a side note: does blog abstinence equal net abstinence? if so, I'll hold any BM or Two-Ton-neighbour news until after my London visit in early November - so there!

Anonymous said...

An entire week without monkee business! It will be a long week. But at least will end with an actual monkee business! My own (first) monk is languishing in parts because (don't laugh!) I've lost my stuffing. (Stop it!)

Your banana transportation problem is familiar. I've taken many round-trip and they turn rather unappealing from their travels.

Hope I win something! (monkee, cards, monkee, cards)

Angie said...

All right, I'll come out of lurking for a contest! I've enjoyed your blog posts for the past several weeks. How exciting to have a shop all your own with lots of monkey stuff for us to see. Wonderful.

or any other of your must haves would be great. Good luck with your shop.

Victoria said...

Ohhh after my experiences this morning I have a shop-keeping tip: make sure you can get in! I spent two hours locked out this morning, the first hour in the cold wrestling with the door and the second with a lovely a cup of tea while some even lovelier men opened the door for me. I appreciate that you are having a virtual shop, but I imagine that being locked out would still be quite annoying.
Hope you have better luck than me!

Would HP6 like to come and live with Rosie? ah well, if i don't win how about sending me one of those pairs of socks you mentioned and i'll turn it into a "Rosie" Sock Monkey. Hope you have a happy week and if the bed seems to big bet the monkees will keep you company, but you'll need twice the amount of snacks!

Totty Teabag said...

Good luck with your new venture as a Monkee Merchant! I'm not a fan of cold drinks, but I'm sure that the Monkee Muff would work just as well keeping the heat in...

P.S. bagsy I win the cards!

(hint: NOT ME!) sign me up! :)

(ps: CARDS??!!!!!!? omg, they are AMAZING & hilarious & xmassy & awesome...& boy oh boy am i ever glad i mailed that parcel in a timely manner!!! sheesh!)

(btw, chartres cathedral rang & want to know if you could just nip over and make them a few new stained glass windows...then afterwards perhaps you could choreograph a teensy little ballet for those bolshoi folks over in moscow...you one-woman crafting renaissance, you!)

HP6 sounds like my Dh when he was riding(in his much younger days)- shaved to reduce wind resistance. "...Smooth body, arms and legs...and he's pink(well white actually)"....Uhm, on second thought, that's probably TMI.

What was Laren saying about dancing Monkees?

Denise said...

Awwww, I'm gonna miss you not posting for a whole week. But you could make it up to me by pulling my name out 4th, (I just love HP6!) or 3rd, or 2nd or 1st - I'm really not picky!
Can't wait til you're back, (and to see if I won).
Hmm, can't think of any clever tips though!

Yea! A shop! We've only been visiting your blog for a month or two, but you have my kids and I hooked. How will we survive without a monkey update? My 8 y.o. daughter is a true monkey fanatic and is in love with 007. Seriously. She is always begging me to go to your blog. We all gather around the computer to enjoy the monkey antics. I'm sure we'll all be going through monkey antic withdrawal! Must have monkeys!!

I started life with a Zip the Monkey in the 60's, with the squeaker in his hand, overalls and the red cap. Remember him? I guess Rylie loving them isn't surprising, but her sisters are beginning to think they live in a zoo.

I had to comment!!!

Still working on your American Monkey cousin for my niece. I emailed you earlier this month about the pattern and it's progressing well. Although I'm now getting lists of others who would want to have a monkey of their own. We would certainly give your little monkey a good home abroad. Think of the opportunities! Ha-ha! Did I mention that we live near Hershey PA,??? Just something to keep in mind.

oh oh oh have you seen the teeny mini monkees that PG are giving away now? Ive had to buy an enormous box of teabags to get one and I dont even drink tea. And finally MEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEME!! Puhlease!

I've deliberated as to what pseudonym to use as my syness is a social handicap...Maybe Dodie Smith (author of 101 Dalmations since this is the 101st post!) Anyway, nothing to do with monkeys but I thought it might amuse you to hear about one instance of my shyness...as a ssmal child I was selected, as the dinkiest Brownie, to present Prince Charles with a bouquet of flowers upon his visit to our village!!! (It was the 70's!) I was so shy that I ran away and hid in the toilets (with the flowers) until he'd gone. My mother was furious!!! Like I said, nothing to do with monkeys. All the best with your sale tomorrow. Cheers, Dodie Xx
